Ultimate Bolivia

Day 1: Arrival in Santa Cruz
Today you will arrive at Viru Viru International Airport. Upon arrival, you will be met by a representative who will welcome you and you start your journey to Santa Cruz, which is roughly a 40-minute drive. Upon arrival, you will proceed to Hotel Los Tajibos for check-in and time spend at leisure.

Day 2: Santa Cruz
After breakfast, you will be picked up from your hotel for a city tour in Santa Cruz, the main commercial, the financial and industrial center of Bolivia. You will visit the main square 24 de Septiembre, located in the old town, the Cathedral or Basilica Menor de San Lorenzo designed by the french architect Felipe Bertres in 1845 with its original cover sculpted in silver, the Social Club and the culture house Raul Otero Reiche. Afterward, you will visit Artecampo to admire original art and crafts from the lowlands and the Abasto market where you will find products from all over the country. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant. After lunch, you will visit Biocentro Güembé, hosting rescued animals that would not survive in their natural environment, providing them with a place to live, and at the same time developing an important program of environmental education and ecological awareness. In the evening you will be transferred back to Hotel Los Tajibos for leisure and overnight.

Day 3: Santa Cruz
After breakfast, you will depart for a full day exploring more of the Santa Cruz area. You will head off to the Lomas de Arena Park, which is a protected area and is famous for having dunes up to 12 m/ 39 ft high, with landscapes that include savanna, forest, the main lagoon, and a diversity of flora and fauna. Upon arrival at the park, you will enjoy a walk to admire the scenery and you could even go for some sandboarding. After lunch at a local restaurant, you will head to the botanical garden, which offers good opportunities for bird watching such as the Blue Coronado Motmot, Great Rhea, sloth bears, marmots, monkeys, coatis, and beautiful ornamental plants. In the evening transfer back to Hotel Los Tajibos for leisure and overnight.

Day 4: Santa Cruz - Alcantari Airport - Sucre
In the morning you will be transferred to Santa Cruz airport for your flight to Alcantari Airport, located in Yamparáez, about 45 minutes from Sucre. Upon arrival in Sucre, you will spend the rest of the day at leisure. Overnight at Parador Santa Maria La Real.

Day 5: Sucre
After breakfast, you will head out for a full day exploring Sucre. You will start at the historic museum, the House of Liberty, we then continue the tour through the former cloister of the University of San Francisco Xavier, one of the oldest and most prestigious universities. Afterward, you will head to the Museum of the Treasure, where an exhibition of Bolivian mining is shown. In the afternoon you will visit one of the most important museums for its contents and for the building in which is located the “University Museum Charcas”, a cultural repository that includes in its 3 sections, which are: Colonial art, archeology, anthropology, folklore and the section of modern art. Continue to the terraces of San Felipe de Nery from where you will enjoy a nice sunset and the best place to take a picture of Sucre. You will end the day with a tour of Bolivar Park and return to Parador Santa Maria La Real for leisure and overnight.

Day 6: Sucre
After breakfast, you will head out to discover one of the most interesting and particular eclectic buildings of the 20th century in Sucre which belonged to the princes of the "Glorieta". Afterward, you will continue towards the town of Yotala. You will take a walk through the village and taste the bread and typical empanadas of the place, and then back to Sucre for leisure and overnight at Parador Santa Maria La Real.

Day 7: Sucre - Cayara
After breakfast, you will start your transfer to Cayari. Upon arrival, you will spend the rest of the day at leisure. Overnight at Hotel Museo Cayara.

Day 8: Cayara - Potosi - Colchani
After breakfast, your guide will be waiting for you to take you to Potosi which is approximately a 40-minute drive. Potosi is declared by Unesco as a natural heritage of humanity. It is considered one of the richest cities in the world, for the extraction of silver. You will get to know its squares, colonial streets, balconies, gates, and large houses that are full of history. You will also have the opportunity to either visit the Casa de la Moneda museum or the Church-Convent and Museum of Santa Teresa. In the evening you will head to Colchani for dinner and overnight at Hotel Palacio del Sal.

Day 9: Uyuni
After breakfast, you will be taken to the heart of the Uyuni Salt Flats with many different options of excursions you can choose ranging from cultural and ethnic excursions to ancient archaeological sites and sacred grounds. All experiences are done with your own guide, private car, and driver. You will arrange your program with your guide when arriving at the lodge. It can be modified during your stay, according to your wishes and the weather conditions. Some of the activities that can be booked are; a visit to the ancient mummies of Alcaya, a hike up the Tunupa volcano, a visit to Celia and the quinoa fields, chasing the sunset on the salt flats, mountain biking on the salt flats, a 4x4 drive, stargazing, or sunrise hikes. Dinner and overnight at Kachi Lodge.

Day 10: Uyuni
Today you will spend a full day at the lodge where you can book any of the activities mentioned on the previous day or just relax at the accommodation. Lunch and dinner are included. Overnight at Kachi Lodge.

Day 11: Uyuni - La Paz
After breakfast, you will enjoy the last moments spent in this beautiful scenery before departing to the airport for your flight back to La Paz. Upon arrival at the airport, our representative will be waiting for you and transfer you to Hotel Mitru Sur La Paz for leisure and overnight.

Day 12: La Paz
After breakfast, you will be heading out to explore La Paz and Moon Valley. During the city tour, you will visit the Plaza Murillo where the Bolivian government is based, as well as an important and immense cathedral and the Presidential Palace. You will also pay a visit to some of the markets, where community healers will offer an array of medicinal plants that ensure good health, luck, beauty, and fertility. You will also have an opportunity to visit two museums on the best-preserved colonial street “Calle Jaén”. Your guide will explain more about the museums. Another fun way of exploring the city will be by the La Paz cable car, which is the largest cable car system in the world. You will enjoy beautiful views of the city and the surrounding mountains. Lunch will be served at Gustu restaurant, which is by far the best high-end dining experience in all of Bolivia! In the afternoon, you will be driven to a special location where you will have a 360-degree view of the city and then, you will visit the Moon Valley, aptly named, this site is unique for its features of lunar-like landscapes and bizarre geological formations. The Moon Valley is not actually a valley but a maze of canyons and giant spires. In the evening you will head back to Hotel Mitru Sur La Paz for dinner and overnight.

Day 13: La Paz - Copacabana - Sun Island
After an early breakfast, you will depart to Copacabana which will take approximately 4 hours. Upon arrival at lake Titicaca, you will take a short walk to your boat which will take you to Sun Island, the place where the Inca empire was born. After the boat ride across Lake Titicaca, you will arrive at the south part of the Island of the Sun. Lunch will be served at the hotel with beautiful views over the lake. After lunch, you will visit the archaeological remains of "Pilkokaina", the Inca Sun Temple. Later, a journey up the Escalinatas de Yumundi, a traditional Inca stair, to get the "Youth Source" or sacred water. It is believed that this is the eternal youth's source. You will also enjoy the beauty of the Incan garden. In the evening, you will be transferred to your hotel where you will get some time to enjoy one of the most unforgettable experiences in Bolivia; the sun setting over the lake Titicaca. Overnight at Ecolodge La Estancia.

Day 14: Sun Island - Copacabana - La Paz
After an early breakfast, you will head off to Copacabana, where you will spend some time visiting the Brown Virgin's sanctuary, where the parishioners go to ask fortune. You will also pay a visit to the colorful local market of Copacabana. In the afternoon you will transfer back to La Paz for overnight at Hotel Mitru Sur La Paz.

Day 15: La Paz - El Alto
After breakfast check out from the hotel and we will head to La Paz international airport for your departure flight.
