During this tour, you will experience the true essence of Mongolian nature and culture with visits to a nomad settlement, active Buddhist monasteries, historical sites, and national parks. Nature along this tour will be changing dramatically: from the golden dunes of Gobi to the open green valleys dotted with wildflowers, through vast steppes.
Day 1: Arrival at Ulaanbaatar
Today you will arrive at Ulaanbaatar International Airport. Upon arrival, you will be met by a representative who will welcome you and you start your journey to the city, and proceed to your accommodation where you will freshen up before heading out for a short city tour. During the city tour, you will visit the Gandan Monastery and the museum of national history. After the short city tour, you will be heading back to your hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Ulaanbaatar - Baga Gazriin Chuluu
After breakfast, you will depart to Baga Gazriin Chuluu in the Dundgobi province. Baga Gazriin Chuluu is an impressive granite rock formation in the middle of the steppe plains. You will get an opportunity to hike in this impressive area for a little while. You will also have an opportunity to participate in different rock climbing activities. In the evening transfer to your accommodation for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Baga Gazriin Chuluu - Gobi Gurvan Saikhan National Park
After breakfast, you will depart to South Gobi and the Yol Valley, also known as Eagle valley in the Gobi Gurvan Saikhan mountain. The Yol Valley is a sunless canyon located in the middle of Gobi Gurvan Saikhan mountain and has a particular beauty and buzzards and eagles wheel and glide in the blue skies above. The cliffs of the canyon block the sunlight from the rivers below so that they remain frozen throughout the year. In the evening transfer to your accommodation for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Gobi National Park - Khongor Sand Dunes
After breakfast, you will be departing to the Khongor Sand Dunes. The sand dunes are the largest and some of the most spectacular ones in Mongolia. The spectacular dunes are bordered by lush green vegetation supported by a small river, named Khongor. You will get an opportunity to hike and slide through the sand dunes. You will also visit a camel breeding family and experience a short camel ride. Dinner and overnight at your accommodation.
Day 5: Khongor Sand Dunes - Bayanzag
After breakfast, you will drive towards Bayanzag, which is famous for its classic desert of rock, red sands, and unbelievable emptiness. Bayanzag is also known to the world as "Cemetery of Dinosaurs”. The red sandstone cliffs and canyons of Bayanzag are where the American paleontologist Roy Chapman Andrews first discovered fossil beds of dinosaur bones and the first-ever recorded dinosaur eggs in 1922. You will visit a local museum which displays important facts and some exhibits of this famous area, a real must-see when in the area. Transfer to your accommodation for dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Bayanzag - Ongi monastery ruins
In the morning after breakfast, you will depart toward Central Mongolia. As this is a long drive, you will Overnight stop in Middle Gobi province, at the Ongi monastery ruins. Dinner and overnight at your accommodation.
Day 7: Ongi Monastery ruins - Kharkhorin
After breakfast, you will drive to Kharkhorin – ruins of the ancient capital of Mongolian Empire built by Ugudei Khaan in 1235. The city was strategically located at the crossroads of traditional routes, creating a staging post for migrating nomads. The bricks and stones from the ruins of this ancient city were used to build the Erdene Zuu Monastery nearby, so in that way, the old city lives on till today. You will pay a visit to the monastery before heading to your accommodation for dinner and overnight.
Day 8: Kharkhorin - Hustai National Park
In the morning after breakfast, you will depart to Hustai National Park, where you can witness the wild horses Takhi, widely known as “Przewalski horse ”. Przewalski horses are the only wild horse to survive in modern times and were returned to Mongolia from world zoos and reserves. The national park is a great location for animal spotting as it has over 172 species of birds and 46 different species of mammals. After you've enjoyed some hours in the park, you will head out to your accommodation for dinner and overnight.
Day 9: Hustai National Park - Ulaanbaatar
After breakfast, you will be heading back to the capital city of Mongolia, Ulaanbaatar. After lunch, you will head out and visit the Bogd Khaan Winter Palace museum and State department store. In the evening you will enjoy the amazing performance of traditional dance. Dinner and overnight at your hotel.
Day 10: Ulaanbaatar
Today we will take you to the airport for your departure flight.
