A culinary journey through Jordan is what a lot of people don't consider when going to the Middle East, but the Middle East is one of the best kitchens in the world. Immerse yourself in the culture and history of Jordan while tasting some of the most delicious, mouth-watering dishes.
Day 1: Amman
Upon arrival at Queen Alia International Airport, your guide will be waiting for you and transfer you to your hotel for free time at leisure. Then we will take you on a welcome panoramic tour of Amman. Welcome dinner at the Windmills restaurant which is one of the best traditional restaurants in Amman. Dinner tonight will be traditional Sajeyeh, which is chicken and lamb cubes
cooked on coal flame with Arabian spices, served with hummus, Mutabbal, and traditional Armenian lamb sausages in Tomatoes sauce, with a variety of Jordanian salads and appetizers, served with freshly baked Arabian bread. Overnight at Kempinsky Amman.
Day 2: Amman - Madaba - Nebo - Petra
In the morning you will be picked up from your hotel for a transfer to Hashems restaurant, one of the most famous and oldest restaurants in Amman. Located in the heart of downtown Amman where you will enjoy a traditional Jordanian breakfast that includes freshly fried Falafel, freshly cooked foul served with Arabic bread, and mint tea. Amman. After your breakfast, you will be heading to visit the Roman theater, and you will ascend to the citadel of Amman, which is the highest hill in Amman and is the site of ancient Rabbath-Ammon. Afterward, you will be heading to the town of Madaba. In Madaba, you will stop for lunch at a family house that has been converted into a small restaurant and you will enjoy some delicious local Mahashi, which is zucchini and eggplants stuffed with rice and minced meat, along with rolled Vine leaves with the same stuffing, slow-cooked in either yogurt-based or tomatoes based sauce. After a delicious lunch, you will visit St George Church and visit Mount Nebo. You will then proceed for another 3 hours' drive to Wadi Mousa where you will spend some time relaxing before continuing your trip to Petra. Upon arrival in Petra, you will be heading out for a cooking class and learn how to prepare Maqlouba, which is chicken, rice, and fried vegetables placed in a pot that is flipped upside down when served hence the name, Maqlouba, served with yogurt and traditional salad. After your cooking class and dinner, you will head to Old Village Resort for leisure and overnight.
DAY 3: Petra - Wadi Rum
After breakfast, you will be leaving for Petra! The Nabateans carved this city in stone with simple tools 1500 years ago, and nothing will prepare you for the beauty and the sheer size of Al Khazna! After some time spent at leisure in Petra, you will be taken to a local family home in Wadi Mousa and taste the Jordanian Mansaf. Mansaf is the national dish of Jordan, served at weddings and occasions, and is a sign of hospitality. After lunch, you will proceed for a 90 minutes drive to Wadi Rum! In the valley of the moon, you will arrive at the camp and enjoy some free time at leisure. You will be leaving for a treat in the evening, a bedouin specialty dinner: Zarb. Zarb is a mix of meat like lamb and chicken, rice, potatoes, and carrots, placed in a hole in the ground, which is filled with flaming coals. The hole is then covered, and after a few hours, the meat and rice are all smoked, steamed, and grilled, all at the same time! During the night also don't forget to look up as the sky is full of stars and is perfect for some stargazing. Overnight at Sun City Camp.
Day 4: Wadi Rum - Dead Sea - Amman
After an early breakfast, you will leave at 07:00 am for a 4x4 desert tour. You will visit Al Khaza’ali which is a natural rock formation that mimics the Siq in Petra, and you will enjoy Bedouin tea with local Bedouins. After a short break, you will leave for a 3,5 hours' drive to the lowest point in the world, the Dead Sea, where you will enjoy an international lunch at a resort and some time at the beach. In the evening you will be heading back to Amman, where you will go for a walking tour and enjoy some shwarma for dinner in a local cafe. Later you will be heading back to Kempinsky Amman. for leisure and overnight.
Day 5: Amman
Today you will meet your guide at the hotel lobby for your transfer to Queen Alia International airport for your departure flight.
